In 2015, after training at the Gobelins, Didier Bizet turned his attention to photography. He is drawn to the countries of the former Soviet bloc, where the melancholy of time and history can be faithfully photographed. As a documentary photographer, photography is for him a true apprenticeship in the world. “Photography gives me answers to my questions about societies past and present. It’s not just fun, it’s a necessary part of my life experience. The world around me evolves, modernizes, changes and surprises me. It’s the fragile, fast-moving world that interests me. Didier Bizet is a graduate of the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts, with a degree in art history and a year’s study of Czech. He publishes his reports in the international press. In 2020, he won a Sony Award for his Baby Boom series, which has been published many times in France and abroad, and was screened at Visa pour l’image in 2020. His reports have been published by Le Figaro Magazine, CNN, Polka, Aftenposten Innsikt, The Washington Post, GEO, Le Pèlerin, Le Vif, El País, Marie Claire, L’Obs, Le Pélerin, La Croix, XL Semanal, D La Republica, National geo. it, Le Monde, Libération, Animan magazine, The Gardian, LFI, Geo Spain, Ca m’interesse, Slate, Le Parisien magazine, We Demain, Newsweek Japan, Newsweek China, NZZ magzine, Le Temps, Sept info, Mclean, Stern, View magazine, Al Jazeera, Grazia, De standaard, Rhythms monthly, Politiken, l’Equipe magazine, De Volkskrant.
Didier Bizet has published 4 books, “Empreinte Transsibérienne” (Critères), “Itinéraire d’une mélancolie” (Éditions de Juillet), “Le grand mensonge” (Pyramid & Revelatoer) and “Grâce à elle” (Revelateor).
In collaboration with the Hans Lucas studio, he launched the magazine Arthur, Vincent et Johnny, and was its artistic director.
